Chulapong is a Managing Partner of ZICO Law (Thailand) Limited. He is also a Partner in charge of the ZICO Law network in Cambodia, Lao, Myanmar and Vietnam.
Chulapong brings extensive knowledge to the firm as he has been in the private practice for 30 years, with major areas of practice including M&A, Projects, Insurance and International Arbitration.
Chulapong received the Bachelor of Laws degree from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand and the Master of Laws from University of Washington in the United States. Subsequently, he received a scholarship from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry of Japan to pursue in a study of the Graduate Diploma Programme in the International Trade Law at University of Tokyo, Japan.
He advised clients on the project financing for the construction of Nam Thueng II Hydropower project in Laos, the acquisition of the First Bangkok City Bank Pcl, the acquisitions of the real estate projects in Phuket, a number of the insurance claims of PTT Pcl, the arbitration claims arising from the disputes of the construction of Burnley tunnel project in Melbourne, Australia and the arbitration proceedings made by Thai Copper Pcl against BHP Bilinton Pcl and seated in London and New York for the disputes arising from the breaches of international sale of copper contracts.
Chulapong was a Partner and an Of Counsel in leading international law firms of Deacons in Thailand and Australia, Colin Ng&Partners in Singapore, and DLA Piper and Baker&McKenzie in Thailand. He then joins the firm as Chairman of ZICO Law (Thailand) Limited from 1 September 2013.
Chulapong was the Assistant Chief Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister of Thailand. In addition, he held the position of a Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dawei SEZ Development Company Limited, a joint venture between Thailand and Myanmar governments, to develop the deep seaport and special economic zone mega project in Dawei, Myanmar.
