Zaid Ibrahim & Co. Wins Big at ALB Malaysia Law Awards 2016

Bringing home three awards at the Asian Legal Business (ALB) Malaysia Law Awards 2016 on 7 April 2016, Zaid Ibrahim & Co. (a member of ZICO Law) is proud to continue to act on innovative and first of their kind deals for our local and international clients.

The firm was awarded “Islamic Finance Deal of the Year” as well as the coveted Malaysia Deal of the Year for our involvement in the Jimah East Power’s Sukuk Murabahah Issuance which is the world’s largest offering of project financing Islamic bonds for 2015, as well as the largest ringgit-denominated Sukuk in Malaysia for the last three years. We were also awarded “Debt Market Deal of the Year” for our involvement in the Government of Malaysia’s Sukuk Issuance of US$1 billion for 10-year and US$500 million of 30-year benchmark Trust Certificates, for a total deal size of US$1.5 billion.

In addition, Lilian Liew, who heads our Debt Capital Markets and Structured Finance practice, was shortlisted for “Dealmaker of the Year” for her significant impact on the Malaysian legal landscape.

The ALB Malaysia Law Awards recognises the excellence and outstanding achievements Malaysia’s leading law firms and in-house legal teams as well as the top deals and dealmakers of 2016. A panel of independent judges, made up of representatives from in-house departments, law firms and other industry experts, select the winners in each category. Announcement

On 1 December 2022, KPMG and ZICO Law entered into an agreement under which a number of law firms and teams from the ZICO Law network have joined the KPMG network of firms.

The deal will see more than 275 lawyers join over 2,900 legal professionals in the KPMG global organization, creating a significant legal footprint across Asia. It will offer legal services and solutions, a globally connected legal services platform, and specialists who work with leading technology providers to modernize legal functions across organizations.
