ZICO Law Partners help Co-Author ASEAN Fintech Ecosystem Benchmarking Study

With the rapid pace of technology enabled innovation in the financial services sector, are ASEAN countries keeping up?

ZICO Law Partners Threenuch Bunruangthaworn, Mohamad Rozaiman Abdul Rahman, Geraldine Oh and Senior Associate Tuchakorn Kitcharoen helped co-author The ASEAN FinTech Ecosystem Benchmarking Study prepared by the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance (CCAF) at the University of Cambridge Judge Business School in collaboration with Asian Development Bank Institute and FinTechSpace.

The study provides an overview of the FinTech landscape in ASEAN member countries and including pertinent benchmarking categories including:

  • Key benchmarking data such as: amount invested, business models, market strategies, technologies used, customer demographics and key risks encountered.
  • A country-by country analysis of regulations that propel or hinder FinTech development
  • Regulatory innovation initiatives, sandboxes, and RegTech in each ASEAN country

Announcement

On 1 December 2022, KPMG and ZICO Law entered into an agreement under which a number of law firms and teams from the ZICO Law network have joined the KPMG network of firms.

The deal will see more than 275 lawyers join over 2,900 legal professionals in the KPMG global organization, creating a significant legal footprint across Asia. It will offer legal services and solutions, a globally connected legal services platform, and specialists who work with leading technology providers to modernize legal functions across organizations.
