We are pleased to announce that Dr Sok Siphana of our Cambodian firm and Aristotle David of our Laos firm will be attending as speakers at the 5th meeting of the OECD-Southeast Asia Corporate Governance Initiative & Launch of the OECD-Myanmar Corporate Governance Reform Programme. The OECD, an intergovernmental organisation will be holding the event on the 28-29 of March in Yangon, its fifth meeting discussing the OECD-Southeast Asia Corporate Governance Initiative, which was developed with an aim of ‘supporting the development of vibrant and healthy capital markets through the advancement of corporate governance standards in the region.’
The event’s main purpose is to ‘spur capital market development and enhance the countries attractiveness to foreign investment.’ The event will see panels from different nations discussing the steps their country has taken towards further developing corporate governance frameworks, mainly discussing the steps taken by the governments of Myanmar, Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.
The 2 day event is hosted by the Myanmar authorities, as well as being supported by the Japanese government, taking place at the Pan Pacific Yangon Hotel in Yangon, Myanmar. Aristotle David will be speaking on the recent developments in corporate governance in Laos on the 28 of March at 3PM, followed by Dr Sok Siphana discussing Cambodia’s recent developments at 4:45PM on the same day.
