ZICO Law’s Regional Managing Partner, Hanim Hamzah, will be sharing her expert insights at the 2018 Annual Conference hosted by the ABA Section of International Law, being held on 17 to 21 April 2018 in New York City, USA. This prestigious conference brings together leaders in the legal industry to discuss vital issues affecting the legal profession, law practices, and ethical questions that lawyers are facing. This year’s theme is At the Crossroads: The Fusion of Private and Public International Law.

Hanim is a panel speaker on the topic Legal Ethics Challenges in Meeting New Privacy Obligations of both Lawyers and Clients in Cross-Border Transactions. It includes a discussion about the threats facing attorney-client privilege in an age of cyber-hacking, governmental eavesdropping, and massive disclosure obligations in e-discovery. Its focus includes the problem of competing legal duties in cross-border transactions, the EU’s new General Data Protection Regulation monetary sanctions on failures to maintain confidentiality of personal data, as well as best practices in compliance for law firms in terms of adopting internal procedures, policies, trainings, and third-party flow-down requirements.

On 1 December 2022, KPMG and ZICO Law entered into an agreement under which a number of law firms and teams from the ZICO Law network have joined the KPMG network of firms.

The deal will see more than 275 lawyers join over 2,900 legal professionals in the KPMG global organization, creating a significant legal footprint across Asia.
