Infographic Series 1 (Part III) – 在企业运营中嵌入可持续性

Sustainability has become an increasingly important consideration in the management and operations of businesses across all industries. The need to embrace sustainability in all business operations has grown in recent years in the wake of the need to act more urgently to combat climate change and the recognition of its long-term benefits. It involves a business strategy where consideration is given on the manner in which an organization can operate in the ecological, social and economic environment that can create long term value for its stakeholders and the community that it operates in. This has led to an increase in the use of renewable energy (RE) as part of the organization’s effort to achieve its sustainability goals.

In encouraging the generation and use of RE, the Malaysian Government has introduced the Net Energy Metering (NEM) Programme in 2016 where electricity consumer can generate its own RE from its rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) system for self-consumption with excess energy being exported and sold to the utility. This NEM Programme is being implemented in Peninsular Malaysia by the Sustainable Energy Development Authority with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) being the utility. To further promote the generation of RE for own consumption, NEM 3.0 Programme has been launched by the Government where it offers 3 types of programmes with a total allocation of 500MWac to cater for the commercial and industrial as well as government agencies and residential consumers.

The infographic is aimed at providing an overview of the NEM 3.0 Programme and the manner in which eligible electricity consumers can participate in the programme.
