Thailand

To accommodate Thailand’s fast-growing economy and support both local and international brand owners, the Department of Intellectual Property (“DIP”) launched the “Fast Action Fast Track” program on 5 April 2021. The program expedites the issuance of the first office action within six months from the filing date of the trademark application provided that the following rules and conditions are complied with:

  • The total number of goods or services must not exceed 10 items.
  • The specification of goods or services must be in accordance to the DIP’s manual, which is provided here: https://tmsearch.ipthailand.go.th/.
  • Any amendment, assignment, inheritance or request to prove acquired distinctiveness shall not be made on the trademark application.

There is no extra official fee for the “Fast Action Fast Track” program.

The applicants of the “Fast Action Fast Track” program can now enjoy a much faster examination process, which they would normally have to wait around eight to 12 months for the issuance of the first office action for the standard trademark examination if their trademark applications are qualified as mentioned above.

Our ZICO IP team looks forward to assisting and guiding you through this process. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
